Rizhao Bailuwan Cherry Blossom Town
Rizhao Bailuwan Cherry Blossom Town is a park landscape design in Rizhao, China. The design respects the natural mountain setting and the character of the existing orchard. Three elements define the site. A pure cherry orchard is elevated above the ground. Curved textured walls, built from local granite boulders found on the site, blur the boundary between vertical wall and horizontal path. Winding roads covered with cherry blossom petals complete the impression of a forest valley. Local craftsmen shaped the stone with traditional techniques.
Rizhao Bailuwan Cherry Blossom Town Art and Cultural Space by Hu Sun was selected as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Rizhao Bailuwan Cherry Blossom Town Art and Cultural Space received the Golden A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2022. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that recognizes outstanding design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
