Black is similar to night, it symbolises "mystery and solemnity", expressing awe and aspiration for the universe. In China, the colour black is similar to iron and has been used since ancient times to symbolise "rigidity and perseverance", reflecting the attitude of calmness and restraint and a strong will to live.
